None of our Massachusetts readers ever want to think about the divorce process. Instead, they hope that their marriage lasts forever. While this is the way things work out for many, others run into relationship trouble along the way.
When you go through the divorce process may have a lot to do with how simple or challenging it is on you, as well as your ex-spouse.
One of the biggest differences between divorce in your fifties and other ages is the freedom that you will be awarded as a result. Since your kids are grown, you don't have nearly as much baggage holding you back. For this reason, you are in position to be more selfish than ever before, which is not always a bad thing.
While it is easy to believe that divorce in your fifties would be worse than earlier in life, this is not always the case. You may have grown children and a spouse you have been with for many years, but this doesn't mean you are stuck in your relationship forever.
After divorce at this age, you will feel liberated. During this time, you are in position to throw yourself into your job, connect with old friends, get reacquainted with your hobbies, and if you desire, begin your search for another mate.
This is not to say that the divorce process is simple at any age, but when you reach your fifties you may find that this is something that can change your life for the better in a variety of ways.
