It's January: Time for a divorce lawyer?

Statistics tell us that the winter months, especially January and February, are the hottest months for divorce. Some of the reasons cited include let-downs after the holidays, enforced intimacy because of the cold outside, and financial stress after buying too many presents in an effort to give the kids one last nice holiday.

A new film about child support and custody disputes

A divorced dad has made a film about the impact of divorce and child support disputes on children called Romeo Misses a Payment. A Q & A with the filmmaker, Aginelo Coelho Lobo, recently appeared in the divorce segment of the Huffington Post. The film highlights the inequities in child custody among low-income parents. Because one of the filmmakers was a non-custodial parent himself, the project reflected his experience during divorce and a custody battle. He told a reporter, " I understand how hurtful and difficult the whole process can be on parents and children. I was inspired by my experience and wanted to be able to educate and provide support to people who were going through similar situations."

More DCF staff fired in case of missing Fitchburg child

The Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) has fired a third employee in the case of a five-year old boy who was missing for four months before the case became known to authorities. The Fitchburg boy's absence was not noticed until his older sister mentioned it to school authorities.
